Irish Wolfhound Breed Overview
Mean kinship
The coefficient of inbreeding of a dog is the kinship coefficient of its parents. Mean kinship is the average of the kinship coefficients between a dog and all other dogs in the population including itself. Dogs that are least related to the rest of the dogs in the breed, and are therefore genetically valuable, will have low mean kinship. A value > 0.25 means that a dog is on average more closely related to the other dogs in the population than full siblings.

Inbreeding (Fis)
(For reference: Fis = 0 indicates the population is breeding randomly; positive Fis indicate that dogs are more related than you would expect if they were randomly breeding – that is, they are being preferentially inbred; negative Fis indicates that dogs are less related than you would expect in a randomly breeding population.)
